⏬ This week’s card is about this expression we take as a sign of determination and reassurance that we will reach some objective or visible success.

But in most cases, almost as a sort of revenge or to prove to others that they were wrong or that we are worthy. I get the point, and in generic terms, if that’s an incentive to help us thrive, I would say, “why not.” A more profound reflection allows us to understand that we’re departing on the wrong foot.

Why should we seek to impress others, to get their approval or recognition? Do they determine our worth? Do we run our lives based on their appreciation (or not)? Of who we are or who we’re becoming? Shouldn’t we do it for ourselves?

✅ Why should we seek to impress others, to get their approval or recognition? Do we live our lives or theirs?

✅ Do they determine our worth? Do we run our lives chasing their appreciation or admiration for any particular achievement (or risk of being ignored by not making it)? Wouldn’t this be so foolish as dog chasing and barking at cars passing by at high speed?

✅ What if we actually “show them” and they are not impressed or careless? Or if we work so hard and don’t make it — whatever it is we wanted to show them — does our effort have less credit or value?

⏩ So don’t say, “one day I’ll show them; I’ll show them who I am.” Go instead, “one day I’ll show me, I’ll show me who I am, who I became”
